Today’s update is a crawler profile!
Before we get into it, there's a new trivia question attached to this update and of course we must have our morning crawler count.

There’s been a lot of speculation and book scouring to find out anything about this Crawler and I’m so excited to finally be revealing more about him.
We saw that some crawlers were worried but rest assured, Archie is NOT a book 8 spoiler.
Archie Murray, alongside some more familiar faces and your custom crawler, is the star of the Crawler Chaos expansion for Unstoppable.
Archie is a newly introduced canon crawler in the Dungeon Crawler Carl book universe. He’s going through the exact same dungeon as Carl and Donut and has probably been involved, in some small part, with some of the crazy plans Carl has concocted.
Just like the original Unstoppable, the Crawler Chaos expansion comes with a storybook. This book is a full 56 pages, and gives you a bit of context about the world you’re playing in. From the beginning everyone on the team knew that for some players this would be more than a new game, it would be their first interaction with the world of Dungeon Crawler Carl.
It’s a privilege to get to introduce the world of DCC so we wanted the storybook to encapsulate everything that we love in these books. With a story so important, Renegade knew that we’d want someone who loved the series, had the writing chops, and had an intimate knowledge of the world of Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Someone even Matt Dinniman would trust.
Ben Wolf is an award-winning author of children’s fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, graphic novels, and of course, LitRPG.
With Matt’s approval every step of the way Ben wrote Archie’s story for Unstoppable. Then we asked him to write even more by giving us an author’s note for this update and he agreed ‘cuz he’s such a great guy.
When Renegade asked me to write Archie Murray’s story for the Crawler Chaos expansion for Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable, I jumped at the chance. I’d already written tons of bonus content for Soundbooth Theater’s Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel, and I’d just signed on as the Lead Writer for the Dungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game.
While I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with Matt Dinniman and Jeff Hays on these other projects, the idea of tackling an original story on my own was daunting. But like all of you, I’m a crawler through and through, so I knew I had to take my best shot. Matt provided me with a rough outline of who Archie was as a character, what was important to him, and the basic trajectory of his character, and I ran with it from there. I actually finished the story while sitting at Jeff Hays’s desk in his house during a visit.
Why Archie, specifically? I don’t think I’m supposed to say… but fans of the series will figure it out sooner rather than later, I suspect. I took a lot of creative risks with this story, while trying to keep it solidly grounded within the World Dungeon, and I’m incredibly pleased with the final result. My hope is that Archie will “bug” you long after you read his origin story.
