Comfort Kingdom Was born after the breakout success of the viral sensation giant dragon plush “Dream Keep Dragons” A woman owned business,  run by Award winning wire artist, fantasy illustrator, merch maker, and plush designer, Shana (Shottsy) Schottenstein with the help of her husband and partner, Randall (RShott) Schottenstein. Both AUDHD and advocates of products that specialize in catering to those who are fellow neurodivergents. Even with her modest following, Shottsy’s very first campaign, (Dream Keep Dragons) was a breakout success. Her following may be small, but they are mighty and just as passionate as her!  Shottsy strongly values every  single backer, and supporter of her art and knows that no matter how big any artist gets they should never forget that they’d be nothing without those that support them. We hope to grow our community and make a safe comforting space for all our friends! If you care about such things here are her degrees and experience: She graduated with a degree in animation from the columbus college of art and design, and then went on to have two intensive master classes with Joe Murray (award winning creator of Rocko’s Modern Life) He has one of my original unicones! Joe helped her to hone her character development skills and even privately mentored her on story development, and business. This lead her to start her art business in its first iteration of Shottsy Arts LLC  in 2013 selling apparel, and merchandise with her art at conventions. Being an 80s baby and 90s kid, as a side hustle, Shottsy sold vintage toys and plush to help fund their materials and costs. All the while working and honing her skills to try and break into the animation industry. Once covid hit, she had more time to reflect on why moving to LA never felt right, and soon realized that working for an animation studio in LA wasn’t the path for her. She pivoted and went back into her passions of fantasy, dragons, and storytelling. Winning two Best 3D awards for her fantasy wire sculptures, she used all her training in character design, animation, and toy collecting and channeled that  into her other obsession/ passion, plush. She has recently been picked up by a licensing agency and hopes to soon see her creations and illustration as many products throughout the world. It is her greatest hope to use her experiences, skills, and creativity to help make a difference in the lives of others, and also help the fight against AI and other things that seek to cheapen the value of art. Without the human element she believes that there is no soul in the work and she puts all of this belief into her designs, making each one feel like it has a life of its own, putting a strong emphasis on the facial expressions and the eyes, which are said to be the window to the soul. Witch Pleas Publishing educates through shared stories. From tabletop roleplaying games over Discord, to storytimes and seminars in libraries or tales traded around the Campfire, we believe the best stories are the ones that give us all a voice.  Collective creation is our passion and our purpose. We’re a team of dice rolling, online chatting, virtual reality designing storytellers who’ve brought our talents together so that others can develop their talents for tales.  We realize this mission by publishing experiential gaming products that teach through doing, not just viewing. Our tabletop roleplaying games are inspired by authentic folklore and classic fiction, shaped through scrupulous scholarly research, and designed by award-winning creators. Our introductory games offer learning through gaming to beginners of all ages, fostering empathy, critical thinking, and social problem solving. Our journals and zines give marginalized voices a forum to be heard, collecting articles, essays, and fiction from scholars focused on alternative experiences and communities. Witch Pleas Publishing was dreamed up on a veranda in Kailua-Kona Hawaii by Gina Funk, a survivor and mother to neurodivergent children, in order to amplify unheard stories. Her life story gave her a relentless desire to empower others whose experiences might be lost or isolated. Coupled with her husband’s knowledge of literature, history, and game design, that dream became a reality and a movement that’s been embraced by a world that needs diversity in a time of division.Â
