Just as I start planning one stretch goal, we've already knocked it down!
The project has been so successful that I can officially announce some book upgrades! First, the early bird Oathbreaker class. Instead of a separate printed leaflet for only the early backers, I wanted to upgrade that and include it in the book properly. This means that everyone will now get it for free, hope that's okay with everyone!
On top of that, you all have unlocked the funding needed to develop the SPELLBLADE subclass. The art is below, and development on both of those, as of yesterday, is now underway!
I'm working with a designer on upgrading the spell cards and character sheets too! (Work in Progress preview below, art not final)
Also, at 100k, we have officially unlocked BIG Legendary Monster cards as a free upgrade to everyone at the boxed set tier! These are 10 tarot sized cards with full art on one side, to impress (and intimidate) players, and an easy to run statblock on the back so you don't have to go flipping through books while running it.
Next Stretch Goal is for everyone, at 120k we're upgrading the adventure to support 1 more level of play and a sandbox style "choose your quest" layout for this and any future updates, for more freeform play.
Quick update on the personal side, it's been... a week, I've been sick and now some of my kids are too, so if there is a slight delay in responding to comments & questions, that's why! I'm slowly getting caught up though. Some additional FAQs have been added as well.

The response has been absolutely amazing. Thanks to all of you, the project is off to a great start: we funded in just about 15 minutes yesterday and are currently over 1000% of our original funding goal. 🤯 I am so very thankful for you all, with your help I promise to make this the absolute best it can be!
Now onto the Mystery Subclass reveal! The OATHBREAKER! Man I'm so excited for this, I can't even tell you... Instead of being a regular subclass chosen at level 3, this is going to be a special Story Driven Subclass. A player will be able to choose this subclass at ANY point along the level curve, when the story demands it. I love the idea of someone playing an Oathsworn, and watching something terrible happen (losing a party member, BBEG tempting or backstabbing them) and the BREAKING THEIR OATH... wow, that just seems too cool.
STRETCH GOALS
I waited to announce any stretch goals since I wanted to hear what YOU all are most interested in. As much as I'd love to, I don't think I can do ALL of them, but I want to do as many as I can. Let me know which ones to prioritize.
Fancy Dice. We've all got plenty of dice, but do we have enough fAnCy dice? (Included for free in the Boxed Set) Cloth Map. Who doesn't love a cloth map? Art TBD, likely of the adventure area for the starting adventure. (Included for free in the Boxed Set) BIG Legendary Monster Cards. Full are on one side to show (and intimidate) your players. Easy to read statblock on the back for convenience. Tarot Sized. (Included for free in the Boxed Set) More Subclasses. Let me know what you're most excited about. Spellblade? (Included for free with all tiers). Metal Action Trackers. Honestly, you don't need these, you can use dice or just your memory, 3 isn't that hard to count to. But having a hefty metal physical thing to interact with... mmm something about that... (Included for free in the Boxed Set) Holofoil Cards. Shiny. Need I say any more? (Included for free in the Boxed Set) Bigger Adventure. Up to level 4? Level 5? A sandbox style choose your own adventure? (Included for free with all tiers).
As we continue our journey toward Faerie, the soothsayers ask that you choose a champion to carry your banner deep into the forgotten realm. Twice a week thou will be asked to decide where this warrior goes and what choices they make, much like the “choose your own adventure” tomes of old.
While your champion is on their journey, any items thou discovers, creatures thou faces, or magic thou champions, will thereafter become part of the final tome. Your choices, and the roll of the die, will guide your champion. You decide what becomes part of the book and what is cast to the shadows as we progress towards their final quest, to defeat the Hag at the heart of the blightwood forest…
Should you succeed in defeating her you will be given a choice of additional special rewards to pick from, changing the book of Faerie forever more!
So choose your champion from the three bold heroes, and comment a name for them below! The most liked comment shall thus determine our champions title, provided it isn’t shudderingly offensive…

I arrive with deep gratitude, for thanks to thy valiant support we hath funded more than 200% already after reaching our goal within but an hour! (and 4 minutes)
We hath also well vanquished two of our stretch goals, with more fast approaching! I shall return upon the morrow with further details and updates, including a more formal introduction of myself and what thou mayest expect from our humble campaign.
But for now I shall rest and celebrate a launch most strong. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting us and for raising thy banner in aid of Faerie. Let it be known across the realms that when the horns sounded and called for aid, ‘twas you bold people that answered the call!

Beneath the Barrows 15K
A new heritage doth emerge from the realm beyond realms! The Cairndwin are a new playable lineage, deathly fey that dwell beneath the barrows amongst the honoured dead. Not truly of undeath, yet steeped in its magic, these are a peoples who know all too well what awaits those that shuffle beyond their mortal coil….
Armaments of Nobility 20K
The 4 Fey Houses hath arrived upon the field, each with a new bounty of magical items. Thou mayest now bear the seasonal arms of House Spring, House Summer, House Autumn and House winter. Each unique to its progenitor house and each more powerful than the last. Look for these weapons, within both the final tome and the illustrated item card set!
Borne of the Otherworld 25K
Mortals mayest lose themselves in the lands of Faerie, but sometimes the Fey lose themselves in the realms of men. The new Changeling background invokes the lore of old, allowing thou to step into the guise of one left in a world not of their own, thy true nature masked. Its connected feat structure allows thou to progress in thy changeling power as much or as little as thy sees fit, and the new Adaptive Shapechanger feat even lets thou martial some of the unique lineage abilities of the forms thy take!
Coven of Wort 30K
The power of the Witch grows, as a new coven subclass emerges from the realm! The Coven of Wort grants its members a connection to the botanical, allowing thou to make use of strange plantlife and brew potent concoctions. With it comes a unique familiar option too, the Bloommaw, a voracious carnivorous plant that beith all bite within all bark….
Bloom of Blight 40K
The plague of House Blight spreads across the realms evermore, threatening all who kneel to the natural order. This sickness has now consumed even more than we imagined, new creatures emerge ever tainted by its touch, and with them arrives magical artefacts and spells born of a similar unholy union. Shall thy resist its diseased grip, or champion this doom-ridden power?
Magic of True Names 50K
Onomancy hath already found root in the book of Faerie, but now thanks to thy support we hath been able to discover more of its secrets! An entirely new subschool of magic will now be accessible, spread across the schools you already know but of a kind entirely its own. With the power of true names thy can bewitch and banish, enchant or ensnare. These spells may take time to master, and preparation to use effectively, but with ample forethought thou willest become more powerful than ever before…
Knaves Companion 75K
All Knights needeth a Knave, and all knaves needeth a manuscript of instruction. This PDF player’s companion version of Faerie is now added to all tiers, and contains only material relevant to those wanderer’s who do not bear the title of Game Master. Now thou canst distribute only the most pertinent information to thy party of murderous crusaders, without fear that their curious eyes wander too deep into places they should not look…
Thus concludes the report, though remain stalwart wanderers, for breaching the horizon a new stretch goal hath emerged! Where Beasts Dwell (100K) bringeth with it new creatures and their lairs, as well as a new monster miniature STL to be added to the pack!

Banana Chan is a Cantonese Canadian game designer, writer and publisher living in the US. Her most notable work has been on Forgery, Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall, Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft and Betrayal at House on the Hill: 3rd Edition. They won Dicebreaker Awards' Game Designer of the Year 2022 and 2 Silver ENnie Awards in 2022.
Hey everyone! Another great day. We're making progress towards our funding goal, and have some other cool stuff planned. There was a live actual play last night which you can find HERE if you're interested.

Sen-Foong Lim
Sen (he/him) is the other half of the designing/writing team for Jiangshi. He is an award-winning designer with multiple card and board games under his belt such as Mind MGMT and Junk Art. He also has done scenarios for Kids on Bikes, Never Going Home, Gears of Defiance, The Curse of the House of Rookwood, and The North Sea Epilogues, and is a designer on the upcoming Fast Cars and Family from Wet Ink Games. When ordering dim sum, Sen always gets the tripe and the chicken feet. Always.
Not to leave the original creative team out, here is the amazing collection of talent who helped bring the original game Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet hall to life! We want to make sure they are acknowledged for all the hard work they did with the project the first time around.
